Practical Volunteer Expectations
Our Purpose: We exist to love all people. Especially the poor, broken, captive and prisoner.
Our mission: We are empowered by God to reach and disciple people for Christ.
Our Values: Depend on God, Make Disciples, Serve Locally and Globally, Live Generously
As a New Hope Community Church volunteer, I commit to:
Extend Grace. (Ephesians 2:8) “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” New Hope’s goal is to help every individual to grow in maturity in Christ (more like Him, less like ourselves). That includes being open to honest feedback from a pastor or lead volunteer, and vice versa. It’s not about judgment but walking closer with Jesus.
Pursue Person Holiness. (2 Timothy 2:21) “Sod if anyone cleanses himself of what is unfit, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master and prepared for every good work.” Opinions may differ on Christian lifestyles. As a New Hope volunteer, we request that you not engage in the following, which hurt you and may cause others to stumble in their faith:
Gossip or slander of anyone
Dishonest gain (stealing or cheating)
Foul language or coarse joking
Illegal drugs/drunkenness
Sexual immorality - including, but not limited to pornography, pre-marital sex, living romantically with someone who is not a spouse, homosexuality
No inappropriate social media i.e., profanity or sexually explicit material.
All behaviors which might cause Christ to grieve and others to stumble
3. Spiritual Growth. (Ephesians 4:12-13) “…to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
I commit to a balanced Christian lifestyle of maturity, emotional stability and healthy relationships. I seek to live out the purpose, mission, and values of New Hope. I will grow my faith through regularly attending church and a small group or Bible study, etc.
